mindat test procedure

If you get an error similar to the following that the server could not connect to the database, this means that the server was too busy. Please wait for the activity to subside.

Please enter the following information:

  • Your loginname or if you were not logged in.
  • The page that generated the problem (Copy the contents of the address bar from your browser).

Status will be added as the bug is being worked on, and then will be moved to the Bugs Fixed page when completed.

General

There are times when the caches do not get cleared correctly after content has been edited. Need to figure out when and fix it. Also, we need a 'Clear homepage cache' option that just removes the home page cache file. --Jolyon 16:47, 27 May 2005 (BST) fixed --Jolyon 13:25, 15 Oct 2005 (BST)

I know that when you do an add minerals to a locality, the cache for the locality display (standard or detailed) is not cleared out. --David Von Bargen 17:37, 27 May 2005 (BST) --Jolyon 17:32, 15 Oct 2005 (BST)

Locality Display

In the US, the location map links to the regional Google map and the regional map links to the Topozone map. These need to be reversed (I would use the USGS maps for the regional map - they have a shaded relief and would be a good source to further link into)--David Von Bargen 15:14, 19 May 2005 (BST)

Mineral Display

locations that have listed Sapphire in the data base do not show up in the locality list for Corundum. As Sapphire is just a var. of corundum it should be included in the Corundum locality lists. The picturs are included in the galleies.

If this is the case with Sapphire then is it also the case with other variety list in the database (ex. smokey quartz, emerald, etc...)? If so this would apperant gaps in the database that are not actualy present, and this sould be corrected.

Locality Editor

There is a problem with trying to enter a latitude/longitude for a level 1 user. I got the following error messages when I tried to enter lat/long as a level 1 user. The only thing that was changed was the lat/long.

Error:

Query was empty

Error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version
for the right syntax to use near 'where id = 52894' at line 1

insert into localities_history set datetime_history=now(), newlangtxt = '*', newtxt = 'Manuel mine,

Added description \'Sec 1 T46N R29W\'
'), newid=2728 where id = 52894
  • Ok, a bit silly, not sure why it's trying to do a 'where id=' on an insert. --Jolyon 12:46, 14 May 2005 (BST)
    • Should be fixed now - please let me know if it's ok. --Jolyon 13:35, 14 May 2005 (BST)
    • Can add the lat/long in without generating errors. There is an entry in the approval system for a transaction. After the transaction was approved, there is no change in the lat/long on the record. http://www.mindat.org/locationedit.php?loc=52933&m=9--David Von Bargen 14:29, 14 May 2005 (BST)
    • Level one users don't have the authority to add/edit lat/long data (system is setup that way). --David Von Bargen 15:01, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

TODO - upgrade from phorum3 to phorum5 - needs migration plan. --Jolyon 16:45, 27 May 2005 (BST)

Click on forum's search button links to main page.--Jean-Marc Johannet 20:30, 17 May 2005 (BST)

Online Chat

Connection time to chatroom can be very long (due to ident check) --Jolyon 13:36, 14 May 2005 (BST)

  • This can be fixed by the firewall rejecting ident traffic. Need to speak to mng about this. --Jolyon 16:48, 27 May 2005 (BST)

On the Photos loaded today page, there are sometimes photos that are not included in this report that were actually uploaded. For the May 14 report photos 31800-31807 are not shown.--David Von Bargen 21:27, 14 May 2005 (BST)

  • There seems to be a problem with some photos being set as non-approved even though the uploader is level 2. They can be fixed easily by updating the records, but I'm trying to get to the bottom of the cause. --Jolyon 22:26, 14 May 2005 (BST)
  • Still the same problem yesterday. Photo 32147 doesn't appear on 'New photos today' for 2005-05-16.--Jean-Marc Johannet 20:26, 17 May 2005 (BST)
  • This also happens when I upload pictures, They go directly into the users and Minerla galleries but not the new today gallery.--Karl Volkman 12:33, 22 May 2005 (PST)

On the List members page: If you do a search and there are more than 50 hits so that you have an additional page, going to the second page will generate a listing of the second page of the member listing, not the second page of the query results (ie. "Dav"). --David Von Bargen 14:33, 31 May 2005 (BST) --Jolyon 17:52, 15 Oct 2005 (BST)
